Wightlink/STUG meeting 8th October
Members of the STUG committee met with a senior member of the Wightlink management on Wednesday 8th October and the following issues were discussed:
- Wightlink have committed to keeping STUG updated/abreast of planning around any potential industrial action.
- The temporary difficulties with the ramp at Portsmouth on the fast-cat for those with bikes, heavy luggage and pushchairs.
- The parking charge rates on Ryde Pier.
- Access on the car ferries for those post operation or with severely limited mobility.
- Exploring the potential extension of the multilink duration from twelve months.
- Expanding the Out of hours phone line.
- The success of the new sunset flyer ticket, the reduced price of £80 and the possibility of a mainland sunset flyer for friends and family.
- A winter sunset flyer change of hours (earlier in the evening return).
- The possibility of Increasing the length and height restriction of vehicles for the sunset flyer ticket.
- Late notice staff sickness which has resulted in cancelled crossings.
- Students and young people accessing crossings and the success of the new initiative.
- Travel numbers for both islanders and tourists.
