Wightlink/STUG meeting 8th October

Members of the STUG committee met with a senior member of the Wightlink management on Wednesday 8th October and the following issues were discussed:

  1. Wightlink have committed to keeping STUG updated/abreast of planning around any potential industrial action.
  2. The temporary difficulties with the ramp at Portsmouth on the fast-cat for those with bikes, heavy luggage and pushchairs.
  3. The parking charge rates on Ryde Pier.
  4. Access on the car ferries for those post operation or with severely limited mobility.
  5. Exploring the potential extension of the multilink duration from twelve months.
  6. Expanding the Out of hours phone line.
  7. The success of the new sunset flyer ticket, the reduced price of £80 and the possibility of a mainland sunset flyer for friends and family.
  8.  A winter sunset flyer change of hours (earlier in the evening return).
  9. The possibility of Increasing the length and height restriction of vehicles for the sunset flyer ticket.
  10. Late notice staff sickness which has resulted in cancelled crossings.
  11. Students and young people accessing crossings and the success of the new initiative.
  12. Travel numbers for both islanders and tourists.
