WIGHTLINK SERVICES HIT BY DELAYS AND CANCELLATIONS ON 2 ROUTES

Wightlink services between the Isle of Wight and the mainland have been disrupted today (Friday), with delays on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth route and cancellations on the Lymington to Yarmouth route too.

A spokesperson has said that St Clare, one of Wightlink’s ferries, may have picked up rope in one of her four Voith propellers while operating in the Solent.

Divers are now on site to inspect the vessel.

As a result, services on the Fishbourne to Portsmouth route are running up to 2 hours behind schedule. The 14:20 crossing from Portsmouth and the 15:20 sailing from Fishbourne have both been cancelled.

Wightlink has also confirmed disruption on its Lymington to Yarmouth route.

A spokesperson, Wightlink, has said:

“It has been necessary to cancel our 15:00 ex Lym and our 16:05 sailing ex Yar.

“We are currently operating a one-boat service due to a mechanical issue with Wight Light. Although she would ordinarily still be able to run, the current severe weather conditions mean it is not safe to do so.

“Our engineers are assessing the issue now, and we will provide a further update as soon as we know more.

“Thank you for your patience while we work to keep services operating safely.”

Wightlink has apologised for the disruption to customers’ travel plans.

The 2-hour delay on the Fishbourne route is currently projected to remain in place until the end of today, according to Wightlink’s live service status page.
