UPDATED: RED FUNNEL CANCELLATIONS AS ISSUES HIT VEHICLE FERRY AND RED JET

Technical issues have led to cancellations on both Red Funnel’s vehicle ferry and hi-speed Red Jet services this morning (New Year’s Eve).

Due to ‘unplanned essential maintenance’, the cross-Solent operator cancelled the 04:30 vehicle ferry sailing from Southampton and the 06:00 from East Cowes.

Now, the 07:30 from Southampton and the 09:00 from East Cowes have also been pulled. And it’s unclear at this time if there will be further disruption as the day goes on.

Meanwhile, a separate issue with Red Jet 6’s port generator has led to the cancellation of the 07:15 hi-speed sailing from Southampton and the 07:50 from West Cowes.

UPDATE @ 08:27 – The issue with Red Jet 6 has been resolved with the service now running to timetable.

UPDATE @ 08:38 – Red Funnel now says the 09:00 Red Jet from West Cowes has been cancelled due to operational reasons.

Wightlink is advising if 30 minute delays on its Fastcat service and 15 minutes on the Fishbourne-Portsmouth car ferry.

UPDATE @ 13:38 – The vehicle ferry service has now been suspended due to low visibility.

Both the vehicle ferry and hi speed services have been impacted by the foggy conditions on the Solent, with significant delays.
