Wightlink has confirmed that the first sailings of the new working week on its FastCat service have been cancelled, meaning Monday morning disruption for foot passengers.
A total of 4 sailings have already been cancelled tonight (Sunday); the 21:45 and 22:45 departures from Portsmouth Harbour, and the 22:15 and 23:10 from Ryde Pier Head.
Now, the cross-Solent operator says that due to the ongoing mechanical issue, the 05:15 and 06:15 sailings from Portsmouth Harbour and the 05:40 and 06:45 sailings from Ryde Pier Head have been cancelled for tomorrow – bringing the total number of cancelled sailings to 8.
It is unclear when a full timetable will resume.
In the meantime, all Wightlink tickets and passes will be valid on the Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry service.
The news comes after a day of disruption for foot passengers, with Hovertravel having to suspend its entire operation for most of the day. However, the hovers are expected to be back up and running as normal in the morning.
Wightlink apologises sincerely for any changes to your travel plans.
UPDATE MONDAY – Wightlink says that the issue has now been resolved, with the service to resume from 06:45 this morning.
